George Lucas Accidentally Confirms Big Three Return…

George let’s the mouse out of the bag…

In an interview about Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm, George let it slip that they had already signed or at least entered into final negotiations with Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford before selling the company.  He backtracked quickly saying he wasn’t sure he was supposed to say that and changed it to saying he could only confirm that they were in negotiations not what the outcome was…

Right.

  • “We had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison—or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation. So I called them to say, ‘Look, this is what’s going on.’Maybe I’m not supposed to say that. I think they want to announce that with some big whoop-de-do, but we were negotiating with them.I won’t say whether the negotiations were successful or not.”

Solo child and grandchild the focus? (and other tidbits)

Jaina Solo involved?

Jaina Solo involved?

According to one of those all important “anonymous source types” the trilogy will focus on a Solo child and grandchild.   Nerdvana questions whether that means ditching the established EU or jumping forward to the current EU with 2/3 of the Solo children dead meaning that the characters would be Jaina Solo and Jacen’s daughter Allana.

  • We’re introducing Han and Leia’s child and grandchild.

This source also says that all of the big three (Hamill, Fisher, Ford) have all signed contracts.

  • All three of the originals will be back in VII; they all have contracts now.

The source also states that George nixed the idea of a Yoda standalone stating that Yoda will always be a supporting character.

  • No on Yoda, George doesn’t want it. Yoda is a supporting character and will stay that way.

And finally (and not movie related but still would be big in EU news) the source states they are looking to get Zahn to write another trilogy of novels (assumingly unrelated to the film)

  • There are three new books we want Timothy Zahn to write.

Alfonso Cuaron the next director after Abrams?

Alfonso Cuaron the next director after Abrams?

Simon Pegg was the latest actor to be attached by rumor to Star Wars Episode VII which he later denied.  The initial report though even admitted it was more of a gut feeling than actual rumor.  So the other part of the rumor from the same report seemed more like actual knowledge – the fact that JJ Abrams is only directing Episode VII and that Alfonso Cuaron was high on the list for VII or IX.

John Noble up for Villain role in Star Wars VII?

John Noble – The baddie?

According to some reports, JJ Abrams may re-team with Fringe star John Noble in Star Wars Episode VII with one report fairly adamant that Noble was going to be the villain in VII. It’s not a far fetched idea at all and I wouldn’t doubt he would be considered after a great run with Fringe recently finished.

  • Comic Book Movie finds that during a morning radio show on Fox FM in Melbourne, Australia, the hosts allegedly spilled that Australian actor John Noble was up to play the “Episode 7″ villain. The host called Jo reportedly said that she “has it on very good authority that Aussie actor John Noble will be appearing as the villain.”  The other host, called Matt, queried Jo’s statement, but she reportedly remained adamant. She claimed that the casting rumor was definitely for “Episode 7″ and not for the standalone projects. The rumor is surely still far from being fixed as the studio hasn’t said anything about the casting and the plot for the new trilogy.
