02/05/13 – Ain’t It Cool News reporting that Yoda-centric film in development.

  • Well, to start with they’re going to focus on established characters and do solo films, no, not necessarily Han Solo films, but well, fuck it…   The first Stand Alone film is going to center upon YODA.  At this stage specifics are sparse, but Kathleen Kennedy is putting together a STAR WARS slate…  I’m wildly curious for more details on the YODA film – would this be a young or old YODA tale? Knowing that Lucasfilm is doing a series of stand alone character features…  I wonder if Joe Johnston has pitched Kennedy his stand alone BOBA FETT film he was talking about after the release of Captain America.   Hmmmmm…   Now, let’s chase after YODA details…  Where’s FRANK OZ?  Giggle.  Gotta love chasing STAR WARS stories!  Oh – and I’ve also heard tale of a JABBA story that Lucas has floated to some of his buddies.  But word is YODA is first.

02/05/13 – Bob Iger confirms two standalone films

      • “When we were exploring very seriously with George the acquisition of Lucasfilm, the idea of producing a few so-called standalone films that were not part of the overall saga came up. And we discussed not in great detail, a few of the possibilities. What I confirm today is that those possibilities are becoming more real and they are now creative entities that are working on developing scripts for what would be those standalone films. We are not saying how many.”
“Lawrence Kasdan who wrote ‘Empire Strikes Back’ and ‘Return of the Jedi’ is working on one. And Simon Kinberg is working on another. And Lucasfilm will have details about these projects at a later date.”Business Insider

02/25/13 – Alfonso Cuaraon mentioned for Episode VIII or IX

  • J.J. Abrams name was brought up to me numerous times, but only in reference to re-brand and ground up respect for world building that the franchise was looking to take back then. Very sneaky. Interesting to see he was offered the most coveted and feared gig in cinema history. Ultimately he is the perfect choice to direct episode 7, and set up the franchise to steward through the first trilogy. The names I mentioned to you before, remember them (EDITOR’S NOTE: my source’s director list can be found here). Alfonso Cuaron especially. Trust me.

MARKETSAW

02/25/13 – Plagueis mentioned as spinoff possibility

  • However, the trilogies ongoing narrative will continue to focus on that particular branch, whereas the stand alone movies, will fill and expand the voids in between in multiple timelines, and have potential to then be franchised themselves in regards to the worlds they open up.Yoda, Palpatine, Jabba, Boba, Plagueis etc.I believe they are very clued into what fans would and wouldn’t like
