Holocron of Phatooine: Memory database

Postby Whispers » Mon Dec 03, 2012 3:35 pm

"A holocron, short for holographic chronicle, was an organic crystal-lattice device, in which the Jedi of old stored phenomenal quantities of data, as well as the holocron's gatekeeper. The Sith also had their own form of holocron technology, and they seem to predate the Jedi in using the technology by at least three thousand years. "

Past experience remembered...
~I remember Phatooine as being a breath of fresh air (although some areas got pretty stinky :p ) after putting up with overbearing moderation and ginormous egos at the site which shall not be named.
~I remember winning the Phat Apprentice and joining the staff
~I remember the fun of interacting with other people who shared my love of Starwars.

I have other memories in the clouded regions of the holocron that may refocus as we go on. Although many I'm sure are best suited for the Dark side. =))

Phatooine has a rich history of which I share only a little. If you are of the 'Phat Reborn' youngling or Force ghost, share your holocron entries. If you're new to Phat it's a good place to kickstart the journey forward and make future memories... :-?
I will find you

- I remember the first week of the website and the exodus from TFN.

- I remember AoE (or is that EoA?)

- I remember Maryland meetups

- I remember hating Bill Gates (note - I have since bought a Mac!)

- I remember recording a voice over session for our one and only Captain of the Obvious!

- I remember a diner in New York state and breakfast with Sox, rogue & EP.

- I remember the fun of the Blue Yoda guys coming over here.

- Everything else I don't remember. Damn alcohol and the way it kills brain cells!

Holy shit ... I had completely forgotten this. I wonder how much else I've since purged from my memory?

I remember:

    - being the first mod of Fight Club

    - icons, icons, too many damn icons! The frak was I thinking?

    - the Endor theme ... once seen, it could never be UNSEEN

    - Hurricane Juan blowing up the site's server about a week after accepting responsibility for the site (yay, nature).

    - GISOL & GLOBAT fiascoes.

    - Project Mitosis (or was it Meiosis?).

    - Slashdot

    - The Episode III timeline script

    - spending many a night on YIM

    - the complete, utter, abject, and deserved failure of my Battle Plans forum idea. :))

    - meeting Phatties in 2003 & 2006, and in between and beyond ...

    - having too many socks

    - the CLONE wars

    - the Podium

    - LT publishing TFF one chapter at a time for all to read

    - the jam in Darth Minx's basement featuring Hones, Obvy, Picnic and ... who else?

... and with that I need a break. :))

- Phat Chat
- Meeting all my phattie phriends....EP, Scarlet, Obvy, LT, Carousel, Fred, Picnic, Viper, Teg....I think that's it....
- The box of goodies for the birth of the first Phat baby. Made me realize what a great group of friends we had
- Fight Club with Viper & Scarlet & EP. So. Much. Fun! We were bold. Very, very bold.
- Flaming Charn in the Mantina and then giving myself User Notes because I was too mad to edit my post.
- Having Salty walk me through how to install a hard drive into my desktop over the phone.
- Holiday Smileys!!!

So many more....will post more later!

It's great to see you all. xoxo

Let's start off with I barely remember:

The Phat meet in Maryland. Probably a good thing I don't remember much else except having to pay for about $150 of booze I didn't get to drink. I'm not sure where EP was at that point, but there were only about 50 of us so it's kind of hard to narrow it down. I wrote it off, what do I care?

Drama, I can't quite erase it from my memory.

Having to meet vortex, and then having him bitch because I bought beer and pizza in Chicago but didn't give him any gas money.

Revealing Captain Obvious as being the alter ego of darth bilbo on the other site. I'll tell that story sometime.

Walking into Sox and Rogue's house and immediately getting headbutted by his youngest daughter... in the junk.

Lots of alcohol at Sox and Rogue's house, and drunkenly debating the mysteries of SW with them and EP. Where are those cigar pics?

C3 and the toy drive. Then meeting more people than I can remember. BYS, Salty, Sarc just to name a few.

Posting on Phat and not sleeping for almost 4 days straight in July of 03.

Standing in a sound booth at Picnic's house while drinking beer and smoking, trying to record a voiceover reel. I'm going to have to record another soon, I'm much better now.

Heh, getting Darth Howell III to post on Phat because there wasn't enough cloner drama after a certain v was banned.

Sure, there were worse times. I like to think we've all grown up a tiny bit, lost a little ego, realized our mistakes and moved on. Personal growth, what a concept.

Endor theme? Was that the one that AE made that absolutely no one used except those with colorblindness?

Shit, man ... I don't even remember that. $150? I owe you a beer. Or thirty.

That'd be the one. I wish I still had a screencap of it. It was EPIC.

No ya don't, it was a table, not a person. I knew that post didn't sound right. I intended it to be a mix of tongue in cheek humor at the massive amount of alcohol we consume when we meet up and the fact that you are organized enough to keep everyone in line on who owes what. I was actually happy to pay it. No one went to jail for stiffing the bar out of the tab.

Ohhh ... that was at the bar afterwards? Damn ... I only vaguely remember an ***EoA*** written across someone's breasts ... but not much else (and what does it say about me that that is what I remember). Heh ... a good time was had by all, that's for damn sure. If I'd had known, I certainly would have happily split the $150. You're right ... where the frak was I? At the bottom of a pint of beer, most likely. :))

It wasn't the beer that racked that bill up, it was the cheap shots of tequila. Hell, I was local and didn't have to drive my happy ass too far. I think me and Picnic were the ones who the waitress came and talked to as we were leaving. Good times. I'm trying to get Celestia to stop long enough for a beer sometime, but when she gets on the road, she is not stopping until she gets where she goes.

I remember a tremendous laugh Billy and I had with Chris (Shaft) when we all went out for dinner in northern virginia one night. We were talking about all the pro-cloner shit and Vortex, and somehow we were also talking about a show on Discovery Channel that was somethign akin to "Crocodile v. Shark" or something like that. Somehow it was mentioned that "the crocodile would win, because clearly: he's a clone."

Tremendous laughter ensued. Couldn't even take a sip of a drink for a few minutes.

Oh man, I remember DragonCon. And the roadtrip. And migrating Phat's database alongside LT. Coding. Redoing the website once and making some sort of semi-CMS for the site. Making lots of avatars. I remember getting drunk as hell in NY with EP, Sox, Rogue, Scarlet, Tim and LT after driving almost 24 hours on no sleep. Riding in Salty's convertable (ride the hurricane, my friends!). So many memories.
