I'm agnostic, so I believe there might be some "Higher Power" at play, or then there might be nothing. Either way, I will wait die and see...or not see. But do I believe in one mighty god? No, not really. Bible and religion it spawned is just man made fiction, like any fiction out there. I tell you what, If I die now, see God and come back, I will remember to tell ya'll.

As the matter of a thought: "God" could be a superior entity from another planet/world. All the religious icon human created on "God" are just imaginary or assumptions of god's appearance. it's not that I'm a atheist. I think of the possible alternatives.

I believe in Yahweh, the Creator God of the Judeo-Christian scriptures. I believe that man was made to bear God's image but that we rebelled, and have thus brought about all the evils and horrors in the world. But that God is making a way to redeem man and remove the stain of rebellion. Do I know this scientifically, no. But I don't think science, by its nature dealing with observing and attempting to explain the natural world and God, having created nature and thus being supranatural, cannot be proved or disproved by it. I belief it because of the experiences with God I've had, which I submit cannot be verified or quantified in any meaningful way to someone who wishes to disagree.

As for religion, I think that there has been a harsh mischaracterization shown. Sure, evils have been done in the name of religion...but equally or greater evils have been done in the name of any convenient excuse powerful people I wielded, be it science, freedom, justice, national identity or any of the various political ideologies. Religion being defined as simply being one's belief about the origin, nature, and purpose of what we see isn't inherently a problem. Everyone has religious beliefs, from the atheist to the apatheism. Organized religion I'm assuming is what people are meaning by religion, but even that is essentially just people of common belief coming together. How that is inherently a waste of time? Sure it's flawed, as is everything humans are involved in, but religious communities bring people purpose and often times a center for life. Much of the good of our world has come from people of faith, ranging from the best beers in the world (made by monks) to science (developed primarily by Islamic and Christian thinkers, who investigated the world around us because of their religious beliefs). For myself I can say that it has changed my entire life and given me a robust community, in which I find accountability, encouragement, and the ability to pour my life out for others.

I am open to the possibility that there is a form of life in the universe that would be considered god-like from our perspective. However, I believe that, if such a being or beings existed, they would no more be interested in us than we are in amoeba.

I flatly reject the idea that there are supreme beings in existence that take a personal interest in us or anything to do with our lives. And I flatly reject the existence of any of the myriad deities mankind has written about in its creative history. There is absolutely nothing to suggest that Allah, Jesus, Krishna, etc. are any more real than Unicron, The Beyonder, or Sephiroth.
