Before taking your last breath.

What are one or two things you hope to do, be, see, experience, become, accomplish before you die? Not a whole bucket list, just a couple of major things you hope will pass before you die.

Mine aren't things I can schedule and cross off a list - the internal timing has to be right. Unknown, but felt, factors have to be aligned. I sense that if I jumped the gun and tried to do them before that inner sense of timing was felt, that I would sabotage or undermine the potential significance and impact I believe they may have. Like sticking cookies in the oven without preheating it first, or not waiting long enough for the meat to marinade.

There is one major adventure journey I would like to undertake. So far the compass is pointing towards Vietnam, specially Ha Long Bay.

Image

There's also one major move left in me - another country, continent - perhaps where I am forced to learn another language. The compass has yet to point me in any direction, but I know one day it will.

How about you?

I tend to go where fate drives me and when the feeling is right. That's why I moved to California in 2008 and moved here to Texas this year. At some point I'll move back to South Carolina but not until the time is right.

I want to see the stars of the Southern Hemisphere before I die. The Large Magellanic Cloud, the Southern Cross, Centaurus...

So yeah, one of these days I need to cruise down to New Zealand or Australia.

I want to do a couple of things...

Swim with Great White Sharks in open water, no cage. Cages are metal and metal screws with the sharks senses and make them attack the cages more often than not. Now I would go with people with stun guns, just in case, and my will & life insurance policy will be in order before I make that swim of course.

But before I do that...

I have to get to Salem Massachusetts for the big Halloween celebration and some whale watching, and then zip to Mexico for The Day of the Dead celebration. Not in the same year of course. That would be insane to pull off. lol

Now as far as bucket lists are concerned I did get to knock one thing off a few years back. I got to march in the Mummer's Day Parade in Philadelphia, it was in the Comics Division. I would love to do that again in either the String Band or Fancy Brigade divisions, or both in different years, but I fear I have to actually join a Mummer group because chances to be in the parade when your not a member are slim.

I'd like to live somewhere that forced me to speak something other than english 95% of the time. I'd prefer to move to the southern hemisphere (Brazil, perhaps Australia). I'd also like to volunteer to Elon Musk to colonize Mars. For my very last breathe, as I die, I'd like to gasp for the lack of air on the surface of Mars knowing I've contributed to the greatness of humankind and to thank the universe for allowing me to observe and learn.

Salty - I can't picture you moving back to SC. There's not much left there, really. Myrtle Beach was a ghost town last time I visited a year ago.

Well, signing the record contract was crossed through a couple of years ago. It only took 25 years for that goal to happen. I think that when I set goals, it ends up taking longer. I'll have to think about it some more.

What do I want to do before my last breath?

I want to run
I want to hide
I want to tear down the walls
That hold me inside
I want to reach out
And touch the flame
Where the streets have no name

I want to feel sunlight on my face
I see the dust cloud disappear
Without a trace
I want to take shelter from the poison rain
Where the streets have no name

We're still building
Then burning down love
Burning down love
And when I go there
I go there with you
It's all I can do

The city's aflood
And our love turns to rust
We're beaten and blown by the wind
Trampled in dust
I'll show you a place
High on a desert plain
Where the streets have no name

We're still building
Then burning down love
Burning down love
Oh, and I see love turn to rust
We're beaten and blown by the wind
Blown by the wind
Oh, when I go there
I go there with you
It's all I can do
If you ever have the chance for redemption, take it. Without hesitation.

I remember this about you. Sorry it hasn't happened for you yet. Have you looked into adopting or any other solutions lately?

I gently stroked Anthony Daniels' cheek & told him he was beautiful (this was hours after he ogled my breasts while taking a pic). i was drunk. :)

I want to travel. Just about everywhere. I'm going to need a LOT of money to do all the traveling I want to do. :D

Skydive. I will be very disappointed if I go through life without mustering the courage to do it (I have mild acrophobia).

I want to spend a year or two overseas in Europe, teaching/tutoring English and enjoying the different cultures that exist (I took a class at Oxford last summer and didn't want to leave).

I want to get a PhD at Notre Dame in History or Early Christian Studies.

Those are my big two.

You would have a hell of a time with skydiving if you had agoraphobia.

And yep, skydiving is on my bucket list. No, none of you are going to pack my chute. Ummm, no pun intended, but no either way.

Travel to all Bond locations and enjoy all my riches by drinking and eating it all away just before I die. Basically travel, eat and drink like Anthony Bourdain. Just more extremely.

Up until February, my main travel goal was Hawai'i, but thanks to a lucky raffle ticket (I'm not kidding), I got there in February. So next place I must go to is Fiji or Tahiti. Or Japan.

But a MAIN lifetime goal would be to get a degree in Computer Science and Mathematics.

I would love to finally champion one of my Afghan Hounds...I think I'll get to Fiji WWWWAAAAYYYY before that happens...
