The Rebels "movie" was a bit formulaic. But I enjoyed it. I especially enjoyed how much they used OT musical cues. There's certainly plenty of room for the stories to expand and, if we compare it to the Clone Wars movie, Rebels has a bit of a head start. Whether or not the series capitalizes on that is another matter but, at the very least, I had fun watching it.

Good to hear. It's on my DVR. I don't think I'll have time to squeeze it in til my weekend (next tues-wed) but I noticed just from the clips how much the cues were used and I appreciated it. This is one seems to rely on nostalgia much more than the Clone Wars did...and that can be good, but it could also get tiresome. We'll have to see how it's handled....

Saw the pilot and loved it. It had a lot of the OT feel in it.

Just found out that if you want to watch the next episode before it is originally aired on October 13, you can at Disney XD's website:

Got a chance to watch last night and I agree with EP. The movie was definitely a bit formulaic but I didn't really care. With a little less nostalgia, I might have, but given the heavy cues, and the heavy OT sound effects, it was an effective debut. I got chills during Obi-Wan's speech and at Kanan's reveal which showed how impressive Jedi were, something that gets lost when there's thousands of them....

I really liked the last episode. It was a nice conclusion to a two-episode arc and left things in a tantalizing state for the series' return after the winter break. I still really don't like the plastic character designs. But the stories are solid, compelling, and very entertaining.

Now ... if we can only have 'Fulcrum' be a certain someone whose character arc was left unresolved .... B-)

^ That would be cool...and it would be a nice connection. I think it started a bit slowly...I agree I'm not very fond of the style of animation and this show is definitely geared a bit younger than Clone Wars but not to the point where adults can't enjoy it. It seems to be taking steps forward as it moves along so I'm watching still :)

Yeah. Thus far it lacks the ... sophistication and edge that Clone Wars had. But you can tell these stories have been laid out with a very deliberate, well-thought purpose. And even if the style and presentation are more juvenile, there's still enough depth to make the show interesting and worth watching. Hopefully the series will follow the same evolution that CW had. If so, it has a lot of potential.

This was a fun episode. Even though it's a major fanwank having him involved in the storyline, I loved seeing Calrissian in full scoundrel mode. Also good was the (relative) solidarity of the Ghost crew (while also having its underlying issues exposed).

Even though it was a pretty badly kept secret...or at least fairly easy to figure out where they were going it was nice to see her back and it links TCW to Rebels very nicely. It does feel like the show is starting to find it's groove a bit. I think they need to get off Lothal more and the Rebellion needs to take a little step forward.

But so far so good!
