Battlestar Galactica - Blood & Chrome: 11.09.2012

Postby Emperor's Prize » Tue Nov 06, 2012 12:16 am

It's happening ... the long awaited backdoor pilot for the ill-fated Blood & Chrome series is finally going to be released.

BSG: B&C is a prequel movie being presented as ten, 7-12-minute episodes on young-male-targeted entertainment company Machinima’s YouTube channel, called Machinima Prime. The first episode will be released on Friday, Nov. 9, with the remaining episodes rolled out over the next four weeks. In early 2013, the two-hour version of B&C will air on Syfy, followed by the release of an unrated version on home video.

Ah very interesting! I was curious about this myself if this was every going to surface. I was very intrigued after Caprica kind of went a bit off the rails. I still think Caprica had potential but it never seemed like it was going to quite realize it...

Caprica had amazing potential ... but it was a narrative mess. B&C certain has the "wow" factor. The trailer looks good. Hopefully its execution is better than Caprica.

Agreed. The trailer for B&C was very frenetic and gave those disappointed with Caprica's lack of action a jolt of "OH YEAH THAT'S WHAT WE WANTED!"

I was even sucked into it a little but I afraid it might sacrifice good narrative storytelling just as much as Caprica for the sake of some mindless action. In that case perhaps this is the best delivery for it...

Saw the previews on Youtube when they first came out, looks pretty good. Still holding out for some type of continuation/closure for the original BSG, lol.....Boxey has to be what, close to 40 by now? haha....

Still quite entertaining ... still can't grasp that this show wasn't given a chance to grow.

I loved Caprica. I felt it captured that "dread" feeling approaching of the events in BSG very, very well. Sure, it wasn't very action packed but the drama, technology, and characters seemed to flow very well. I just feel like in the end they knew it was over beforehand and stopped putting effort in.

I watched Caprica throughout and thought it had great potential. But unfortunately I think it was too slow for some people...

I'm definitely enjoying this pilot thus far. Unless the wheels come off at some point, I'd say it's headed to a resounding success.

I went ahead and watched Caprica all the way through. Turned out better than I expected after watching the pilot the first time. Also loving the pilot so far. B-)

I'd have to disagree with this. Nothing in Caprica "flowed" well at all. At best, the series was haltingly tantalizing. It was more potential energy than kinetic. Its value was in thematic premise rather than execution. I think, had it progressed to a second season, it would have begun to realize its potential. But the first season was an inconsistent and unfocused mess of narrative and character.
